Roundup of latest Championship action which saw teams continue to fight for promotion, play-off spots and survival.

Leeds United continue to sit at the summit but were held to a 1-1 draw at home against sixth-placed West Brom after Junior Firpo’s early header was cancelled out by Darnell Furlong’s nodded equaliser.

Sheffield United consequently cut their deficit to three points after Ben Brereton Diaz netted their opening goal then assisted Tyrese Campbell in a 2-1 victory at QPR, as Michael Frey’s penalty denied the Blades a clean sheet.

First-half goals from Josh Brownhill and Maxime Esteve fired third-placed Burnley to a 2-1 victory at Cardiff, despite Yousef Salech’s consolatory effort for the Bluebirds.

Sunderland remained fourth but ended their two-match losing run with Eliezer Mayenda’s brace in a 2-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday, after Calum Paterson equalised early in the second half.

Coventry climbed to fifth with a fourth straight victory following a 3-2 win away at Oxford United as Tatsuhiro Sakamoto netted a 71st minute winner, after Jack Rudoni and Ephron Mason-Clark twice put the Sky Blues ahead only for Ole Romeny and Elliott Moore to cancel out their goals.

Zak Vyner and Harry Cornick found the net to put Bristol City outside of the top six on goal difference in a 2-0 win at Millwall.

Down in the relegation zone, Luton climbed off the foot of the table and up to 22nd position following Jordan Clark’s 25th-minute winner in a 1-0 victory at home to Portsmouth.

Derby consequently slipped to the foot of the table following a late defeat at Middlesbrough which saw Finn Azaz fire in a 12-yard winner in the 80th minute.

Plymouth sat second-bottom and six points adrift of safety after they suffered a 2-0 loss at Hull as Joe Gelhardt and Abu Kamara netted for the Tigers in the second half.

Elsewhere, Andreas Weimann’s 96th minute effort rescued ten-men Blackburn a 1-1 draw at home to Norwich in their first match under Valerien Ismael, after Ante Crnac put the Canaries in front following Emmanuel Dennis’ red card for the hosts.

Preston suffered a blow to their outside chances of a play-off spot after they stuttered to a goalless draw at home to Swansea.

Finally, Stoke held Watford to a goalless draw at the BET365 Stadium.
