Manchester United host title-chasing Arsenal in a clash between two Premier League giants.
Victory could see Man Utd climb to 13th if Tottenham fail to win elsewhere, whilst Arsenal can reduce their title deficit to league leaders – Liverpool down to 13 points with a win.
Team News
Man Utd could be without Manuel Ugarte and Harry Maguire due to knocks which kept the pair out of the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw away to Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Patrick Dorgu (suspension), Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo (both muscle), Lisandro Martinez (knee), Mason Mount (leg), Amad Diallo (ankle), Altay Bayindir and Luke Shaw (both unspecified) are still sidelined.
Arsenal have no fresh injury concerns following their 7-1 Champions League win away to PSV in midweek.
Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka (all hamstring), Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu (both knee) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Man Utd host Arsenal on Sunday 9 March at Old Trafford in a 4:30pm GMT kick-off, live on Sky Sports in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Man Utd have won one of their last six league meetings against Arsenal (W1, L5).
- Arsenal have lost two of their last six league visits to Man Utd (W2, D2, L2).
- Victory would see Arsenal do the league double over Utd in consecutive seasons for the first time in the fixture’s history.
- Coming into this matchweek, no European player had played more through ball passes in the top-flight this season than Utd’s Bruno Fernandes (19).
- Arsenal have kept clean sheets in each of their last three league matches away from home (W2, D1).
Prediction
Having battled to a draw at Real Sociedad despite having just two senior players on the bench and now without Dorgu plus possibly Ugarte and Maguire again, Utd certainly have a huge headache because this feels like a dead rubber with Europa League surely their main priority if want European qualification for next season.
Arsenal meanwhile are all but mathematically out in terms of the league title race and with no domestic cups left to fight for, they just need to consolidate second and try and have a strong go at the Champions League title but they can relax here after a clinical first leg over PSV where they just looked in control throughout.
In fact I do expect Arsenal to go strong here and leave the squad rotation until Wednesday for their return leg against PSV, especially given that this is a huge opportunity to get an away win over one of their long-term enemies who look like sitting ducks at the minute.
Prediction: Man Utd 0-2 Arsenal
