Haas’ Team Principal, Ayao Komatsu is keen for fans to see “the real Ollie” at 2025 Chinese Grand Prix.

Oliver Bearman endured a difficult first race weekend as a full-time F1 driver in Australia, which saw him suffer crashes in FP1 and FP3 – of which his FP1 crash forced him to sit out FP2 before a gearbox issue prevented his participation in Qualifying.

Post-Qualifying modifications to his car resulted in a pit-lane start from which the 19 year-old Brit recovered to finish 14th and last of the race finishers.

Komatsu is therefore keen for fans to see what Bearman can do properly in Shanghai, China at the Chinese GP, whilst hoping that Esteban Ocon can build on his own performance in the first sprint weekend of the season.

“Esteban had a solid weekend in Australia, so we are looking forward to build from that and I’m also looking forward to seeing the real Ollie in Shanghai after an uncharacteristically messy weekend in Melbourne.”

Bearman added that he is “very excited” to race in China for the first time, having previously attended as a reserve driver for Ferrari and Haas in 2024.

“I’m very excited to go to China, I went there last year as a reserve driver and I’m fascinated by the city and the circuit, which is very unique.

“I’m looking forward to the first Sprint – it’s definitely going to be a challenge as I haven’t driven the track before – but it’s a challenge I’m ready to take on.”
